Anyway, whenever Antonio goes into a wide position, it is on the left.

And that is where I remember him in the Bilić days as well.

Bilic played Tomkins at right back too.

He probably has played left back but it was definitely right back he wanted him to play and become

Seem to remember it being left back charley. Didn't we have Reid on the right at the time?

If i remember correctly it was never planned for Antonio to play right back Bilic stuck him there after a few injuries to his other full backs and then continued to play him there. Antonio was not happy

I'm not sure if you deliberately miss the point or you're just chronically dim. Either way, you're about three steps behind the rest of this conversation, you moron.

Re: ⚽ WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-3
Probably easier to coach a midfield player to get into better scoring positions than it is to coach them finishing. Fornals is pretty good at making the right runs but lacks the composure to make it count. Type of player who scores only when he doesn't have time to think about it.

Re: ⚽ WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-3
The Soton game is the first I've felt confident for in a while We're one of their bogey teams and we only need a draw. So we can sit back and counter-attack, which ironically, probably gives us a better chance of winning.

There's no real pressure because let's be honest, we're not too good for a two-bob cup competition like the Intertoto or Europa Conference League.

Re: ⚽ WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-3
It is possible Fornals can be coached to finish better, but IMO that is a big ask and unlikely to happen. Thing is it's not just about the ability to finish, it's also about staying calm and composed. I think that's a natural talent and can't be taught. Overall though I have been impressed with him of late, he is a good player with a good attitude and a a good asset for us.

Something for everyone last night.

Even Vexed got to see Declan Rice miss a penalty.

“By the way, Antonio was a goalscoring winger. That's why we bought him.”

I totally agree. I have an acquaintance who supports Forest and he was totally heartbroken when he left them because he had scored so many goals from the wing for them. For some reason, Bilic thought it would be a good idea to convert him into a RB, which was disastrous in my humble opinion.

Vexed - Your stupidity and ignorance knows no bounds.
He was a goal scoring winger when we bought him. I don't think anyone has ever figured out why Bilic tried him (disastrously) at full back as it was blindingly clear that he couldn't defend to save his life. Something no doubt even you pointed out at the time. But don't let that stop you from handing out childish insults.

You have to be the supreme moron on this site. And that's not an insult, just a reasonabale observation.

Iron Duke.
If Fornals could bag 6 or 7 goals next season then that would start to put him in the Gundogan bracket. Gundogan was never a goalscorer but has added that to his game.
Totally feasible that Fornals could with the same coaching. Get Cottee to train him after hours :)

Re: ⚽ WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-3
funnily enough, prior to the end of last season, antonio's best position for scoring goals was at RB/RWB.

could've been an absolute bruiser in that position, but it was daft to think he'd ever have the nous, application or desire to play there.
